Historic Old Town NIA

Historic Old Town Neighborhood Improvement Association is a group of neighborhood volunteers in Topeka, Kansas. We meet monthly and work toward a better place to live, from arguing our case at city hall to cleaning out choked-up gutters. Our neighborhood is bounded by Topeka Blvd., Summit Ave., 6th Ave., and 10th Ave. Our official membership is anyone one who lives or owns property in this area, but we welcome any and all!

JEFF JOHNSON TO VISIT TOPEKA, KANSAS

 

 

Black Entertainment Television (BET) commentator Jeff Johnson will be the keynote speaker at the Sumner Restoration Project Fundraiser Banquet in Topeka, Kansas.

 

Within the hip-hop community and abroad, Jeff Johnson serves as a voice of strength for a generation. An architect for social change, as well as an innate ability to both influence and inspire, Johnson is one of today's most gifted leaders in both the political and entertainment arenas. Jeff will be speaking on the relevance of the Brown vs. Board of Education decision and the importance of restoring the Sumner building.

 

The banquet, catered by Outback Steakhouse of Topeka, will be held on March 12, 2008 at 6:00 pm in the Sixth Avenue Ballroom located at 117 SW 6th Street. Tickets can be purchased for $20.00. Due to limited seating, groups of ten may purchase a table in order to guarantee convenient seating. Tables must be purchased March 1st.
